The DC Motor Plug is a small board containing two H-bridges to drive a single stepper motor or two small DC motors. 

The board uses an I2C I/O expander to support the two motor drivers as well as providing 4 additional accessible I/O pins.

The motor drivers are based on the TC4424 chip, which is mainly intended for driving MOSFET's, but which happens also to work well for driving small motors, forward or backward. Limit the motor size to running currents less than 0.15 A and take care that potential stalling currents e.g. from reaching an end of travel stop are brief. Check the package temperature during sustained operations - additional heat sinking may be required.

The Pre-assembled version comes with all the SMD parts already soldered on. Note that no 6-pin headers are included.

The PCB only variant contains just the board for the DC Motor Plug. No parts, no headers.

As connectors you can use a Plug Headers set with 10 male and 10 female 6-pin headers, which makes it easy to connect multiple plugs and JeeNodes in a “standard” way. Or you can solder the board directly in place for more permanent use.
